No surprise here…
April 21st, 2007 by Dan FuhryReally. I’m not the slightest bit surprised. Vista is a failure. And the Linux geeks aren’t the only ones saying so.
While I’m here, I might as well mention my evil plans.
I’ve decided it’s time to upgrade BigMomma. She currently has 30 gigs of storage. The cheapest Mac Mini has twice that. I was thinking, oh yeah, maybe two 500 gig SATA disks.
The deal is, I do virtualization. A lot of it. Because I’m a geek I tend to want to test OSes as they come out (and ideally on competent hardware) but my budget isn’t going to let me shell out $300 for a workbench system. I do have Lapdawg, but I (yeah, I know) still use Windows on it occasionally, usually for Skype and NSIS stuff. I’ve got a decent router and a knowledge of NFS, so I’m probably going to use Nighthawk as a virtualization host.
There is a problem here: I’m short on cash. Like most geeks my money goes to the Internet bill and not to server parts. So if you’ve got any spare cash on hand and you think I’ve done a good job with Enano, the ExperienceUI, and Component Manager, perhaps you could spare maybe a buck or two? Yeah it’s pretty unorthodox to ask for donations on your blog, but I will offer 200MB of storage - plus SSH and SFTP - on BigMomma for every $10 donated. Donate $30 and I’ll give you a website (PHP5 + MySQL5 + Perl + mod_python!) and e-mail account on BigMomma for a year. Thanks guys.
